Borlad, son of the Easterling chief Bor, stood with his brothers Borlach and Borthand. Maedhros took the principal leaders of the newly arrived Men, Bor and Ulfang, into friendship. Borlad then served under Maedhros and Maglor. With his brothers he stayed loyal and so spoiled the outcome Morgoth had planned when that alliance was formed. Ulfang’s sons under Caranthir broke their oaths. Borlad died in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. The newcomers long occupied East Beleriand.
