Transcriber & calendar

Everything is computed in the browser — nothing you type leaves your device. Both tools show their rule along with the result: correctness is the product here, not the decoration.

Two things are true of both: they compute in your browser, and they show the rule they follow. The transcriber names the letter behind every sign it draws and says where its mode runs out; the calendar gives the reckoning of Appendix D along with the particulars that defeat a simple formula. Neither is a novelty generator — a wrong answer that looks right is worse here than no answer at all. Which is also why some things are missing: there is no mode of Beleriand, because ours cannot render it reliably, and no Ring-inscription, because it is Tolkien's own calligraphy.

Shire calendar

Conversion after Appendix D — including the particulars that defeat every simple formula.

Every month has thirty days · the Lithe and Yule days fall outside the months · Overlithe in a leap year. In the Shire the weekday is fixed to the date — unlike ours.
