In brief
Eluréd was the elder son of Dior. In midwinter the sons of Fëanor fell upon Doriath and battled in the Thousand Caves; there Dior and Nimloth, his wife, perished. Agents of Celegorm took the boys and abandoned them hungry among the trees. Maedhros later spent much time looking for the pair in those woods, yet found no trace. The end of Eluréd and of Elurín is nowhere related.
