In brief
Frór was Dáin I's second son. Most of Durin's folk gathered in the Grey Mountains after Thorin I moved north from Erebor, drawn by wealth still little explored. Dragons from the wastes beyond later regained strength, multiplied, and waged war on the Dwarves, seizing what they had built. In the end a great cold-drake killed Dáin I and Frór before the doorway of Dáin's hall.
