Náin I, son of Durin VI, died one year after that king. During Durin’s rule the Dwarves of Moria drove shafts deep under Barazinbar for mithril, by then hard to obtain. This woke Morgoth’s Balrog, which had fled Thangorodrim and stayed buried far below since the Host of the West came. It killed Durin, then Náin I a year later. Moria’s standing then ended; its people were annihilated or departed to remote regions.
