In briefanswer capsule

Nár was the one old companion who left with Thrór after Thrór gave the last of the Seven Rings to Thráin. From Dunland they crossed the Redhorn Pass into Azanulbizar. At Moria’s open Gate Nár warned him in vain; Thrór went in and never returned. After many days in hiding Nár found the severed head marked AZOG in dwarf-runes. In tears he fled down the Silverlode as Orcs flung the carved-up corpse to the crows.
