The Nauglamír was a carcanet of gold set with countless gems out of Valinor, wrought by the Dwarves for Finrod Felagund and named the most renowned of their works in the Elder Days; it rested on its wearer as lightly as a strand of flax. Long after Finrod’s death Thingol had the Silmaril won by Beren set into it, and over that one piece the Dwarves of Nogrod slew him in Menegroth. Beren wrested the necklace back at Sarn Athrad, Lúthien wore it in Ossiriand, and it passed to Dior and then to Elwing, who carried the jewel with her out of the ruin of Doriath.
