A rod of silver, the chief token of royalty in Arnor as the crown was in Gondor; in Númenor the sceptre had been the mark of kingship, and this one was the rod of the Lords of Andúnië. When the North-kingdom ended it was kept at Rivendell with the other heirlooms of Isildur's line: the ring of Barahir, the shards of Narsil and the star of Elendil. At Midsummer of Third Age 3019 Elrond bore it to Minas Tirith and surrendered it to Aragorn, and with it gave him Arwen's hand.
