Ost-in-Edhil was the city of the Elves in Eregion, called Hollin by Men. Only there beyond the Ered Luin did Noldorin Elves found a lasting realm. From the city a highroad led to the west gate of Khazad-dûm—Hadhodrond to the Elves, later Moria. Dwarves and Elves formed a friendship not found elsewhere, to the benefit of both.
