Rhudaur is a region in the north-east of Eriador. After Elendil founded his realm beyond Ered Luin, his people dwelt in many parts of Eriador along the Lhûn and the Baranduin; Númenóreans also lived at Fornost, in Cardolan, and in the hills of Rhudaur. They raised towers on Emyn Beraid and on Amon Sûl. The northern kingdom was named Arnor, distinct from Gondor in the south.
