In brief
Gimilkhâd was the younger son of Ar-Gimilzôr of Númenor and father of Ar-Pharazôn. His elder brother was Inziladûn, later Tar-Palantir. He took after his father in temper, proud and wilful; Ar-Gimilzôr would have made him heir had the law permitted. Under Tar-Palantir he led the King’s Party and opposed the king openly and in secret. Born in 3044, he died in 3243, two years short of his two hundredth year.
