In briefanswer capsule

King of Gondor, son of Minardil. After Minardil fell at Pelargir to Umbar’s Corsairs, a plague from the East hit under Telemnar. In 1636 he perished with every child; many of Gondor’s folk, above all in Osgiliath, were lost. Minas Anor’s White Tree failed then. Mordor’s border holds stood empty. Nephew Tarondor succeeded and shifted the royal seat to Minas Anor.
