The five Istari, in the order the Valar chose them

Five were sent, and the essay names how they were picked: only Curumo and Alatar came forward willingly; Olórin was called by Manwë and went reluctantly; Aiwendil was taken to please Yavanna, and Pallando came along as Alatar's friend. That is the order here — chosen, called, taken, brought along. Two of them walked east and out of the story.
