The Valar, in the order the Valaquenta names them

Fourteen of the Ainur entered the world and stayed. The Valaquenta names them in a fixed order — seven Lords, then seven Queens — and that is the order of this path, not a ranking of our own. Melkor was one of them and is counted no longer; he stands at the end, outside the list, as the text places him.
