Henneth Annûn is a rock-chamber behind a waterfall in Ithilien, held by Faramir and the Rangers of Gondor. Seen from within at the right hour, the falling water catches the red evening light and scatters it into shifting, unsteady colours, as though a window of some elven-tower were hung with a veil strung from silver and gold, from ruby, sapphire and amethyst, every stone alight with a fire that burns nothing away.
