About this version
Kenji Kamiyama directed the film for New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Animation, WingNut Films and Domain Entertainment; the drawing was done by Sola Entertainment in Japan, in traditional two-dimensional animation. It opened in December 2024 and runs 134 minutes. Its material comes from the section on the House of Eorl in the appendices to The Lord of the Rings, and it is set roughly two centuries before the events of the novel. Miranda Otto speaks the narration as Éowyn, the part she played in Jackson's films. Against a budget of some 30 million dollars it took about 20.7 million.
