In briefanswer capsule

Arvedui, last king of Arthedain and fifteenth of that line, son of Araphant, belonged to the Dúnedain. Aranarth was his elder son. Pelendur advised Gondor to refuse his claim to the crown. In 1974 Angmar took Fornost; he held the North Downs, then fled north. Hunger drove him from dwarf-mine tunnels to the Lossoth of Forochel, who gave food and snow-huts. Círdan, told by Aranarth, sent a ship. Death in 1975 ended the North-kingdom.
