In briefanswer capsule

Calmacil was a Dúnadan and the seventeenth King of Gondor. He was a son of Atanatar II Alcarin. After Narmacil I, who left no children and died in 1294, the crown passed to Calmacil as that king’s younger brother. His son Minalcar had already directed the realm as regent from 1240 while the kings still reigned. Calmacil died in 1304 of the Third Age; Minalcar then assumed the crown under the name Rómendacil II.
