In briefanswer capsule

Narmacil I, son of Atanatar II Alcarin and a Dúnadan, was the sixteenth King of Gondor. He died childless in 1294, the second such king after Falastur, and his younger brother Calmacil succeeded him. In his days attacks on the borders began again; regent Minalcar learned that some Northmen joined the Easterlings. In 1248 Minalcar crushed an Easterling force between Rhovanion and the Inland Sea, destroyed their camps east of the Sea, and took the name Rómendacil.
