The Kings of the Mark, Eorl to Éomer

Eighteen kings in three lines, numbered by Appendix A itself. It begins with a ride: Eorl the Young came south to the Field of Celebrant unasked, and Gondor gave his people a country for it. It ends with Éomer, who rode out of the same country to the same field of battle. Between them lie the Long Winter, Helm Hammerhand dead standing in the snow, and a king who left Rohan because he could not bear his father.
