The Kings of Gondor, Meneldil to Eärnur

Thirty-three kings ruled Gondor after Anárion, from Meneldil to Eärnur, who rode to Minas Morgul and never came back. This is a line of RULE, and Appendix A names its breaks itself: two kings died childless, one crown was taken by a usurper and won back in civil war, a plague emptied the city, and after Eärnur the Stewards held the rod for nearly a thousand years. Read in order, it is the slow answer to why a Ranger out of the North had to be crowned at all.
